1. COURSE ON LABORATORY ANIMAL SCIENCE (GDIA-AMSTERDAM)
Aim The course aims at careful and sound use of animals in biomedical research.
Contents Topics of the course: legal, ethical and social aspects of animal experimentation, comparative biology and zootechniques of the most commonly used animals, lodging and care, pathology, genetics, anaesthesiology, experimental techniques, design of experiments and statistics, aspects of stress and immunological research, alternatives for animal experimentation, examination.
The course is legally mandatory for every scientist using animals for experimentation. The scientist should be graduated in one of the biomedical studies mentioned in the Law on Laboratory Animal Science or to have fulfilled a specific training program.
